For people who are great at their job — and dread presenting it.

Dread presenting? I get it. Let's work on it, together.

I'm Sophie Winby, a public speaking and communication coach. I'll coach you one-to-one on Zoom, using the real presentations, pitches and meetings you actually have to give — until speaking stops being the thing you dread.

Tell me if this sounds familiar

You start talking, and a few words in your voice goes wobbly. You're convinced everyone's noticed.
Your heart's thumping so loudly you lose your place, and suddenly your mind's a blank page.
You've quietly let a colleague present your work. Or had a very convenient “clash”.
In a normal meeting you're fine. It's the second it becomes a presentation that it all goes wrong.

Here's the bit that stings. You're good at your job, you really are. But every presentation you dodge is a bit more credit, visibility, maybe even a promotion, going to someone else.

None of that means something's wrong with you. Your body has just learned to treat presenting like danger. It can learn something different, with a bit of practice and someone in your corner.

Let's just have a chat first

It's free, it's one-to-one, and it's on Zoom. No audience, no slides, nobody watching you perform.

  1. 1

You tell me what's coming up.

The meeting, the update or the interview you're dreading. It stays between us.

  2. 2

I show you one small technique.

Something simple you can take into your very next meeting.

  3. 3

    We make a plan.

What I'd work on with you, and my honest take on whether this is right for you.

You won't be asked to present. Camera on or off, totally up to you.

What our 8 weeks together look like

Every session is about you and what's actually in your diary. We go a little at a time, so it sticks.

  • One-to-one
  • One session a week
  • Evenings on Zoom
  • Your real presentations
  1. Week 1

    Where you're starting from

We record a quick practice run. Only you and I ever see it.

  2. Weeks 2–3

    Calm body, steady voice

Breathing, pace, and getting your first 30 seconds right.

  3. Weeks 4–5

    Saying it clearly

A simple structure that keeps you on track when the nerves kick in, and how to handle tricky questions from senior people.

  4. Weeks 6–7

    The real thing

We rehearse the presentations you've actually got coming up, on camera, with feedback that's honest but kind.

  5. Week 8

    Look how far you've come

We record again and watch your before and after side by side. This is my favourite bit.

Between sessions: a little homework each week, about 10 minutes a day. Nothing scary.

Hi, I'm Sophie

I've spent years in front of classrooms of 30 teenagers. If you think a boardroom is tough, try last lesson on a Friday.

I've watched so many nervous students go from staring at their shoes to standing up and owning the room.

And here's what I've learned: the steps that work for a nervous 15-year-old work for grown-ups too. You've just got more riding on it, and nobody has ever sat down and shown you how. That's what I'm here for.

“It's always me. I coach every session myself. No handing you over, no scripts. Just you, me and your real presentations.”

  • Former Head of Drama

I'll be straight with you

I'm only just opening up one-to-one coaching, and I'm taking just a handful of people this season. So you won't find hundreds of reviews here yet. What you will get is all of my attention, and someone who's spent years helping nervous people find their voice.

What people say about my teaching

“It wasn’t just about building my confidence. Sophie taught me the actual skills behind it, and you can tell she really knows her stuff.”
JamesConsulting
“I had two sessions with Sophie before my keynote. I actually walked onto the stage looking forward to it, which has never happened before.”

Why not just join a club or do a one-day course?

Coaching with me

Just you and me, every week for 8 weeks, on your real presentations, from your sofa in the evening.

Free speaking clubs

Brilliant for practice. But you're giving set speeches to strangers, and nobody's coaching you on the presentation you're actually dreading.

One-day workshops

A lot crammed into one day, usually in a room full of people. Then you're on your own when the real thing comes round.

A few coaching sessions

Handy before one big moment. But nerves that have built up over years need a bit longer to settle.

Nerves ease with steady practice and someone in your corner. That's what our 8 weeks are for.

So, how do we start?

01

Grab a free session.

Pick an evening that suits you. We'll just chat. No presenting, promise.

02

I'll send you a plan.

What I think we should work on, plus the fee, in writing. Have a think. No rush, no hard sell.

03

Pick your evening.

Same time each week, on Zoom, for 8 weeks. Cup of tea in hand, from your sofa if you like.

Psst, your work might pay for this

It's easy not to think of asking. But presenting is part of your job, so it's fair game for a training budget. I can invoice them directly and give you a certificate. And if asking feels awkward, I've written the email for you.

Things you might be wondering

Anything else, just ask me in your free session.

If you're good at your job and dread presenting, you're exactly who I had in mind. I won't pretend you'll never feel a flutter again — almost everyone does. What we'll do is practise, patiently, week after week, so the nerves get less and less say. Come to the free session and see what you think.

Go on, grab a free session

Pick a time that suits you. It's just the two of us on Zoom, and you won't have to present a thing.
